<Addendum: Chapter 3 of Bresnan 1972>
-Feb. 24 Read the previously assigned portions of Postal that you haven't read yet. Take at least a look at the 2 reviews of Postal; the Postal and Pullum article; and Bresnan Chapter 3. We will finish the HO labeled '2-10 notes on Postal 1974' (i.e., from p.11 on). Then we'll work through the handout '2-17 More Postal arguments'. And, in the unlikely event that there is still time, the HO 'Notes on Bresnan 1972, Ch. 3'. (All of these HOs are in the folders for previous weeks.) Some more HOs for Feb. 24

<<Here are 2 interesting papers we would have discussed if I hadn't run out of time: Neeleman&Payne 2020 "On Matrix-Clause Intervention in Accusative-and-
Infinitive Constructions"; Wurmbrand 2019 "Cross-clausal A-dependencies". The 1st of these gives an extraposition account of the word order arguments for raising. The 2nd looks at a variety of cross-clausal A-dependencies across finite boundries in a bunch of languages.>>
